Reverend Silvia Misina is an ordained Lutheran Pastor, Board Certified Chaplain and CPE Certified Educator. For over a decade, she has been supervising and coaching professionals, helping them develop skills in providing spiritual care to people in crisis, leading faith communities and building self-awareness.
Rev. Misina studied at the Theological Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. She was ordained in July 2001 into the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia.
Rev. Misina received a call and was appointed a pastor to an Evangelical Lutheran Congregation in Rankovce, Slovakia. She preached and ministered to a dynamic and an active congregation with all age groups, and taught religion classes at public schools. Rev. Misina also served in a special missionary ministry among local Romany people (Gypsies).
In 2003, Rev. Misina moved to New York where she worked with a Slovak congregation at the Holy Trinity Slovak Lutheran Church in New York and with the Slovak immigration population in New Jersey. She provided worship services and spiritual care to people who live far from their homes and for whom the Slovak church and community is valuable.
While continuing mission among immigrants, Rev. Misina started to work at the Trinity Lutheran Church in 2004 as an Associate Pastor / Director for Christian Education and Youth Ministry. She taught Religion at the Trinity Lutheran School in Staten Island.
Rev. Misina completed her CPE Supervisory Education at the Bellevue Hospital in New York and was later certified as an ACPE Educator. In 2010, she started working with the educational center Lutheran Services New York Alliance where she trained CPE Interns and Residents; first as a Program Manager (2011) and later as the Program Director (2015). Rev. Misina brings an acute awareness of cultural diversity to her work as an educator. During 2013-2017 Silvia served on the Certification Committee of the former Eastern Region of ACPE, the certification process for professional supervision and education.
In 2018, Rev. Misina developed a Distance Learning CPE program, which allowed her to supervise and train students from across the country. In January 2021, the program transitioned to an independent Lutheran Partners CPE, where Rev. Misina is a primary CPE Educator.
Rev. Misina has lived with her family in New York City, Westchester and now resides in Maryland. She likes to travel, ski, kayak, camp, and bike. Rev. Misina also enjoys music and boating on the Chesapeake Bay.
