Pastoral Care Training

Distance Learning

We offer a program designed for specific faith groups and seminaries, who wish to create their own student groups and have them trained/educated in a specific time period. The syllabus is tailored to the individual needs of the group. Please inquire more about this option via email or a phone call.

How Do I Choose the Program
that is Best for Me?

  • Extended Unit is designed for people who have full or part-time commitments (work, study, and/or family) and cannot afford to do a full time CPE unit.
  • Summer Intensive Unit offers a course done in a short term; usually convenient for seminarians.
  • Distance Learning CPE provides an opportunity for students who are geographically distant or in remote areas and wish to participate in a unit of CPE.
  • Distance Learning CPE also saves time and expenses otherwise spent on travel through joining an online group from their offices and/or homes in any state.
  • The primary learning in our program takes place in small groups of CPE students who meet via video conference each week at a designated time. Written work is required and submitted through our on-line classroom.  The group learning is supplemented by individual sessions with our certified Educator that can be scheduled with some flexibility.

Lutheran Partners CPE Program is accredited by the ACPE (Association for Clinical Pastoral Education). This training program enables students to connect with people in their deep vulnerability, hurt and pain, and to provide spiritual care and support to people in crisis.

CPE as Continuing Education: In this program faith leaders and other ministry professionals dive into unique aspects of pastoral work in their congregations and other respectful places of ministry. It is an opportunity to brush up on “old” skills and routines, dive deeper into one’s self-awareness and revitalize pastoral care and ministry of presence. It provides an opportunity for pastors, priests, rabbis and other religious leaders to engage in continuing education without taking time away from people in their congregations; but rather practice their new skills within their faith community.

Group educational time includes: presentations of cases from professional practice; receiving feedback, consultation and supervision; identifying learnings and solutions for the next action; seminars / didactics on pastoral care related topics, discussions; group process and personal sharing.
